Beginner/Intermediate Adult Acting Classes

Course Overview:

Curious about acting? Returning after time away? Or ready to take your skills a little further?

This welcoming and highly popular course is designed for actors of all experience levels—including complete beginners. In a relaxed, supportive, and energising environment, you’ll explore the fundamentals of acting through script-based work, alongside a like-minded ensemble of peers.

There’s no pressure to “get it right”—only the opportunity to learn, experiment, and grow.

Led by award-winning director, actor and teacher Chris Baldock, Artistic Director of Mockingbird Theatrics, the course draws on over decades of experience creating acclaimed productions and mentoring actors at all stages of their journey. Chris is known for fostering a room that is both creatively rigorous and deeply supportive—where actors feel safe to take risks and discover what they’re truly capable of.

As the term progresses, you’ll gently build confidence, develop your technique, and uncover what makes you unique as a performer. For those with more experience, the course offers the space to refine and deepen your craft, with tailored guidance throughout.

Above all, this is a room where you can take risks, feel supported, and enjoy the process.

Course Outline:

Weeks 1–8
Guided exploration of monologues and scene work, with practical tools and personalised feedback

Week 9 (Terms 1–3)
Informal showcase for invited friends and family

Week 10 (Terms 1–3)
Supportive feedback and reflection

Term 4 Finale
A fully realised public showcase — a ticketed performance for those ready to step into the spotlight

Class Size
Strictly limited to 15 actors to ensure a supportive and focused experience

• Saturdays- 10:00am-1:00pm (Term 2 -CLASS FULL)​​

• Sundays – 1:30pm-4:30pm (Term 2 – CLASS FULL)
